The word hypnosis induction can sound intimidating when you do not have a full grasp of its meaning. But to expert practitioners of hypnosis, it is simply the first step of the process employed by the hypnotist to put your mind in a state of susceptibility to suggestions or instructions.

Hypnosis induction is used for several reasons, most of which are medical in nature. While Stage hypnosis is purely for entertainment purpose, hypnotherapy as practiced by qualified clinical hypnotists or doctors in Psychology or Psychiatry have a different meaning and purpose altogether. It is frequently used to alleviate or reduce certain psychological disorders or to take control of the mind so it can be cured. This is done in conditions such as addictions, compulsions, phobias and many other psychological problems that manifest physically by making our body sick or unable to function normally.

In a clinical setting, hypnosis induction is done or administered by a licensed hypnosis practitioner or a doctor. These people undergo intensive training in hypnosis techniques to be able to use this method in curing patients. Not everybody can learn hypnosis to cure people and the procedure is fraught with a lot of danger in the hands of unqualified people. That is why it requires practitioner to undergo formal hypnosis training and be licensed as a professional or as a doctor as well.

It is dangerous to tinker with the mind of a person. It can aggravate the condition instead of curing it. Most people are afraid to undergo hypnosis induction because they are afraid that it might leave some residual effect on their mind and make them go crazy. That idea is entirely false. Hypnosis induction is simply the introduction to the process of hypnosis and not a cure. It is meant to relax the mind and help the patient focus on emotional issues that is causing them anxiety or unhappiness in the first place so that the doctor can find a cure.
